Followers missed trades while offline

Why OmenSyncer never replays trades placed while your engine was offline, what happens when it reconnects, and when that actually matters.

This one is specific to the Desktop plan. On Desktop the engine runs on your own computer, so it only copies while your PC is on with OmenSyncer open. If your leader trades while it isn't running, your followers never get that trade, and OmenSyncer does not go back and fill it in after the fact. On the Cloud plans the engine runs 24/7 on our servers, so this doesn't happen there.

Why there's no catch-up

Copying happens in one place: the moment a leader fill arrives over the live connection, the engine sizes it and fans it out to your followers. That is the only path that places follower orders. A fill that lands while the engine is offline never reaches that path, so there is no record of a trade to mirror once it comes back.

Copying a trade late would be worse than skipping it. Entering minutes after the leader, at a price that has already moved, could put your followers into a position the leader has already left. So OmenSyncer never backfills. It copies live or not at all.

What happens when the engine comes back

On reconnect after a gap, the engine reconciles. It checks each account's current positions against what it expected and alerts you to any mismatch, such as a leader position your followers don't have. That is a heads-up so you can decide what to do, not an automatic copy of the trades you missed. See connection troubleshooting for more.

When this bites, and when it doesn't

  • Desktop app: the engine runs on your own machine, so it only watches while your PC is on and the app is open. If the machine sleeps, restarts, loses internet, or the app closes, any leader fill during that window is missed. See the desktop app guide for keeping it awake and running.
  • Cloud: the engine runs on our server around the clock, independent of your computer. Close your laptop or lose your Wi-Fi and it keeps copying. If your leader fires trades overnight or while you're away from your desk, Cloud is what avoids this gap. See Plans & billing.
Tip
A brief connection blip is different from being offline. If the engine is running and only the broker link drops for a moment, it reconnects on its own and keeps going. This article is about the engine itself not running when the leader trades.
