Risk rules & lockouts

Set per-account daily loss and profit limits, what happens when one trips, how to lock or unlock an account by hand, and fixing a limit that fired early.

Updated July 19, 2026

Risk rules are per account guardrails. Set a daily loss limit or profit target, and the moment that account's day crosses the line OmenSyncer stops copying to it and flattens what it holds. You can also lock an account by hand for a set time.

The limits you can set

Each account has its own limits on the Risk Management page. Turn a limit on with its toggle, then enter the dollar amount as a positive figure. Both limits watch the account's full day: closed profit and loss plus the open profit and loss of anything it still holds.

LimitWhen it trips
Daily Loss LimitThe account is down by this amount for the day.
Daily Profit TargetThe account is up by this amount for the day, locking in the win.

A limit that is toggled off or left blank is not enforced.

What happens when a limit trips

Both limits do the same thing. OmenSyncer stops the account taking any new copied trade and flattens the position it holds, then pauses the account for the rest of the trading day.

→
Paused till resetuntil the daily reset

You get an alert when it happens, so you find out without watching. The account comes back on its own at the next daily reset, when the day's profit and loss returns to zero.

Note
Risk limits gate copied orders, not an order you place by hand on the broker platform. Once a limit is tripped, though, OmenSyncer flattens a hand-placed position on that account too, the same as a copied one.

Locking an account by hand

To switch an account off for a while with no dollar trigger, tick the accounts on the Risk Management page, choose Lock, and pick how long:

OptionLocks until
Quick presetsA fixed span from now, such as 30 mins, 1 hour, or 3 hours.
Trading sessionThe end of the Asia, London, or New York session.
Next market openThe next futures session open.
CustomA date and time you pick.

A locked account copies nothing until the lock is up, and shows a Locked badge on the Risk page while it holds.

Unlocking

Timed locks release themselves. When the time you set passes, OmenSyncer unlocks the account and it starts copying again.

Important
There is no one-click undo for a lock, by design. A lockout you set on yourself should not be trivial to reverse in a heated moment. A timed lock runs out at the time you set; that is the way out of it.

Follower take profit

The Risk page also holds each follower's Follower TP control. This is separate from the limits above. Rather than stopping the account for the day, it gives a follower its own take profit so it banks a smaller, steadier target while the leader runs to its full one. It only moves the take profit; the stop loss still follows the leader.

ModeWhat it does
OffExit with the leader (default).
% of leaderClose at a share of the leader’s target. 50% of a 60pt target is 30pt.
PointsClose a fixed number of points from the follower’s entry.
$ profitClose when the position is up a set dollar amount.

The daily profit target stops the account for the day; a follower take profit closes that one trade and keeps copying the next. Full detail in Followers & multipliers.

When limits reset

Both limits track the account's profit and loss for the current trading day. That figure zeroes once per day at the daily reset, which by default lands at 5:00 PM CT (the futures session rollover). At the reset the counters return to zero and any account paused by a tripped limit is free to copy again.

A hand-set lockout is separate. It runs on its own clock and releases when its time is up, not at the daily reset.

If a limit didn't fire, or fired when you didn't expect

If an account didn't stop when you thought it would, the limit is usually not set the way you think, or the day hasn't actually crossed the line. Work through these in order:

CheckWhat to look for
Is the limit actually on?The toggle must be on and show a dollar amount. Off, blank, or zero means nothing is enforced.
On the right account?Limits are per account. It is easy to set one on the leader and expect it to guard a follower, so check the exact row that traded.
Was the line really crossed? The limit counts the whole day, closed plus open profit and loss. Down $180 against a $250 loss limit hasn't tripped yet.
Checked right after a move?Open profit and loss refreshes on each position poll and closed profit and loss syncs about once a minute, so a limit can fire a beat after the price, not on the exact tick.
After the daily reset? The day's figure zeroes at the reset, so earlier losses no longer count toward the limit.
Was the account even copying?A disabled or locked account isn't copying, so there is nothing for the limit to stop.

Remember that limits gate copied trades, not an order you place by hand on the broker platform. To prove one works, set a small amount well inside where the account already sits for the day, watch for the alert and for copying to pause, then set it back.

A trade closed right after it opened

A position that copies in and closes again almost at once is usually OmenSyncer acting on a rule you set, not a fault. Two causes account for nearly all of it.

A limit is already hit. Once an account reaches its daily loss limit or profit target, OmenSyncer blocks new copies and flattens what it holds. A fill that lands on that account, from a copy that tipped the day over the line or one you placed by hand, is closed on the next check. If the limit was too tight, raise it or turn it off on the Risk Management page.

Follower protection. If a follower's entry fills a moment after the leader has already exited that symbol, follower protection flattens the late fill so the follower isn't left holding a trade the leader is already out of. That is working as intended. Your alerts tell the two apart: an auto-flattened or risk alert points to a tripped limit, a follower-protection close points to the leader having already exited.
