Can a follower take profit before the leader?
Give one follower its own smaller take profit target, how to set it, and how it differs from the daily profit target on a prop account.
Updated
Yes. Give any follower its own take profit and it takes a smaller, steadier target while the leader runs to its full one. This moves only the take profit; the stop loss always stays at the leader's price.
How to set it
On the Risk Management page, each follower has a Follower TP control. Click it, pick a unit, and enter a value:
| Mode | What it does | Example (leader targets +60pt) |
|---|---|---|
| Off | Exit with the leader (default). | Follower closes at +60pt too. |
| $ profit | Close when the position is up a set dollar amount. | $1,000 on 1 ES closes at +20pt. |
The dollar target is a whole-position figure, so it moves with your size: $1,000 on one ES contract is +20 points, and on two contracts it is +10.
Not the same as the Daily Profit Target
They sound alike but do different jobs. A follower take profit is a per-trade exit: the follower takes its target on that trade and keeps copying the next one. The Daily Profit Target is a day-level guardrail: once the account is up that much for the day, it stops copying until the daily reset.
Earlier or later than the leader
Both work. The target is measured from the follower's own fill price, so it can sit closer than the leader's or further out, and slippage between the two accounts doesn't shift it.
A few contracts don't have a dollar-per-point value on file yet. Set a target on one and the follower shows a small warning and copies the leader's take profit instead; it never guesses a price. That behaviour is also why the dollar target is now the only one offered: the two earlier options worked off a contract's tick size, which we don't always know, so they could quietly do nothing.
